“My 12-year-old son has been taking this class for 6 months now. We are not a "music family" aside
from listening to it. My son hated music classes in school. He had zero interest in reading music and
was discouraged by the pressure put on him to play an instrument well. We bought him the Reason
software and a laptop several months after starting the Music Lair OC. Later, we bought a midi
keyboard for him since he liked the setup at the Music Lair OC. My son was able to set up the midi
keyboard on his own and add instruments/special effects as soon as he opened the laptop. Not only
is he learning how to produce music, but he is also learning music theory without being tortured or
bored to death. It's a hands-on learning experience where music theory makes sense while he is
actually working with it. Without this class, my son's music exposure and appreciation would be
limited to a subpar learning experience in his public school despite his love for music. James
inspires him and takes the time to explain things in a fun way, demonstrate it and then have him do
it. it's mind-blowing how easy it is for a child to learn how to produce music.”
